I Floated for 7 Days in a Row and Here’s What Happened

Inspired by a fellow floater at SYNC, I floated for 7 days in a row. I had been toying with some sort of “reset” for quite some time. Having danced in and out of adrenal fatigue for the last year or so, my mind, body and soul were in serious need of a deep, loving connection with each other. I went into these 7 days expecting to feel more regulated, relieve some chronic muscle tension, and to improve my emotional health baseline. I got that and more.

Finding My Rhythm

Starting each morning at 6:30 A.M. with a float, I noticed the difference in my days pretty quickly. I had more patience with my children, I smiled more, and most importantly, had more compassion and acceptance toward myself. General annoyances slid off my back a lot easier too. I had started having painful tension in my neck causing bad headaches almost every night leading up to this, and those vanished for the week.

This was all really great, but I wasn’t prepared for some of the unexpected benefits I experienced. I lost almost no hair strands, due to the huge decrease in cortisol that floating is known for. My whole family also got sick with the flu and that usually sends me to a pretty deep, temporary, depression. I got through that flu with mental health unscathed; that was a first for as long as I can remember. Additionally, I was able to improve my floating skills! In the past I have often climbed out of my floats early when I exit the deep brain wave states. I learned this week to stay with myself in the tank, face whatever state I was in, and that those brainwave states can ebb and flow. Each day I was able to get into those deep states more quickly, and spend more time there.

Floating And Other Modalities

Having tried many different modalities in the past to improve my mental health, including multiple SSRI’s, medical cannabis, dietary changes and more, I am so glad I made the choice to lean more heavily into my floating practice. I got the benefits I had searched for in those modalities and then some. The ripple effects of those benefits reached further into my life than I could have hoped, and I learned that getting regulated on a regular basis is the best thing we can do for ourselves. This certainly won’t be the last time I float for 7 days in a row. And if any of you are considering your own reset, need to feel less stressed, or want better mental health, I invite you to lean more into floating, and your friends here at SYNC too 🙂
